Ready to face the sun

Chinos from J.Crew, perfect half tuck shirt with the collar and cuffs popped, a flash of fire engine red lips, hair in a twist bun = Ready for brunch on the weekend after a long week
It's been a long time!
I've spent the last few weeks struggling with a lot of things. Work. Career (not the same as work). Passion. Yoga (hands up who else felt like 3-legged dog was sprung on them out of the blue?). Gluten. Myself (Am I happy? Lost? Just hungry? Not sure? You get the drift). And have thusly regressed inwards.

Everyone goes through moments like that. Sometimes these pass quickly, sometimes they sink into your world like a gloomy funk and stay a while, a burst of sheer joy peeking through the cloud like a ray of clarity occasionally only to pass.

I don't worry about it too much, just take time to listen to, ponder on and feel the experience. It's not my favourite, but for me, a bit of time spent in my personal cave now and then allows me to reemerge with a rested spirit, clearer mind and a stronger sense of what's my next move.
Did I figure myself out this time? Sure did! Do I think there will be a next time? No question about it. So what?

That's the beauty of us. We're constantly evolving, even in our own lifetime. If only we allow ourselves to.

That's also what I love about clothes. I hesitate to say 'fashion', the word suggests a trend or a transient type of quality. But then again, maybe that's exactly what it is, ever changing, just like people. It is constantly morphing into and away from what it was just before.

So what are we doing examining Exhibit A from J.Crew? Well! Don't you think if you'd just spent a few gruelling weeks running a mental marathon that you'd be just about ready for some time in the sun, reading the newspaper, having a coffee (not on the go, because you have nothing if not hours) and strolling through the farmers' markets? Exactly. And what better way than with some citrus and some easy wash and wear denim shirt like the above? After all those weeks spent in the mental version of child's pose and dressed in as much black and thick heavy jumpers as physically possible (even in dusty Jakarta, a girl craves cable knits when she's feeling vulnerable), this is exactly what I feel like I'm ready for.

I hope you had a good month and that a better one lies ahead. xox

Everything's fine!

Why, did something happen?
haha, I know! I disappeared again! what's my excuse this time, you ask?
Ok here goes, see what you think of this one:
I moved countries and I got married.
How'd I do?  Am I off the hook?
(cue cheeky laugh)

I missed you too!  How've you been?

Guess Who's Back!

Miss me?

I know, it's been a while! Let me catch you up!

Meet Alan:
Decided that despite junior high school, I do like polka dots.
Fell back in love with J Crew.
And the citrus hues. Yum!
Got yet another pair of shoes.
Became OBSESSED with the Celine Nano (in citrus), see top left.
DIDNT quit coffee. Did I mention I was gonna after my birthday? Hah.
Became a lawyer. Oh, and finally wore my weird neon chunky necklace.

So that's me all done. How've you been? x

And after this, we will be up to speed

  1. I finally got my full license: On my last day of unemployment before the new job, instead of doing any homework, I chugged over to the registry and paid $37 to take the last test. Bombed out (i'm incredibly bad at touchscreen - i am just happy i can manage an ATM transaction so this is not surprising), and paid another $37 to retake the same damn test. Passed that, thank goodness, but was completely mortified about failing. Then I had to pay another $151 to actually get my full license. I still look hideous on the license (on my old license, a bouncer once looked at it and said 'this does you no justice'). I'm finally a grown up!
  2. I passed all my exams from last semester apparently. I checked on my enrolment screen which said pass for Financial Analysis for Transaction Law, Corporate Law, and Evidence and Criminal Process. I don't technically know the marks, because I haven't paid an outstanding library fine (did I tell you about this? it's a long story, tell you about it later). But I found out that I can just see if I passed or not if I just wait abit longer and enrol for the next semester's subjects. Suits me just fine, since I don't have the cash on me right now anyways, and I don't want to know unless it's AT LEAST a credit.
  3. since leaving my last job, I have not thrown up or had non-stop chest pains. funny, innit?
  4. I think that is all I needed to tell you, and obviously, I am once again, on the hunt for a tan that will last through to the next summer. I look better as a tanned brunette. True story.

Hi world, Happy New Year

so, what's new with you?

since we last chatted, my laptop died, and i apparently did not see the 'do not resuscitate' toetag it had snuck on itself. i had about twelve nervous breakdowns - all due to work, and how much i disliked it. i got a new job which starts, oh this wednesday, as a paralegal (how fancy!) and am not employed for the next two days (but nil sunshine to be seen). oh what else.. i got a MacBook (just the baby sized one in 13 inches as i am after all, temporarily unemployed and LITERALLY between jobs). hence why i am now back online, instead of struggling with my little ipod touch, which is adorable, but painstaking to use for msn with the Duchess.

ps i got engaged on New Year's. what's that? oh yes, the ring is fabulous. i love it. i keep checking it's there in case this is all an incredibly elaborate dream sequence and i am not in fact bethrothed with said humongous diamond ring. so far, so good. yay!

tell you more about it next time. i spy sunshine, off for a tan.

so... and how are you doing? what's new with you?
