Holiday Viewing

Happy holidays!! What did you get up to this Christmas?
I got started on some major online shopping, I don't go in for the Christmas sales, but I always organise a nice big delivery of post-holiday cheer. Can't wait to show you what I got.
Meanwhile, B bought me a new movie (he always gets me loads of videos to watch since I don't tend to watch regular teevee. bless). It's Tamara Drewe. Have you ever watched it? Brilliant, and I'm only in the first quarter of it. She is so far a gorgeous anti-heroine. My favourite kind.

This month's nominee

If you haven't heard already, Pantone just announced the colour of 2012.

Meanwhile, this weekend I was rediscovering my purple heels.

And it got me thinking how I do love that particular tone of jewel.

And so, I have decided to announce a candidate for colour of the month.

It's also the colour of Christmas!

how was your weekend? I spent sunday afternoon at a cafe with B catching each other up on the last two weeks. then trailed home to start the wind down for getting back to work on monday morning.
I really like spending sunday evening doing something low-key, like watching Nigella Express with a mug of coffee, or catching up on my AFR newspaper reading. You can see my sunday was really good, as I got to do both.
What do you think of my Lacoste sneakers? I sometimes find that cut of shoe difficult to wear, esp with that pattern on it. But I thought if I was going to go patterned, I may as well go all out, guns blazing with a striped knit dress and oversized knit cardigan. The hat is something I picked up at a random market in Jakarta. Initially the girl wanted far more than I thought was acceptable, thank goodness she chased me down with a better offer. I was heartbroken at the thought of not going home with it.
The cardigan is actually B's but we both agreed it didn't suit him as well.

Mayday Monday

I had great plans of posting up some wardrobe inspiration of my favourite colours this week along with updating you with my furniture making progress but alas, I am experiencing some major technical problems!

I feel like SJP in SATC when her mac had a sad face.

So I'm going to go make myself a triple shot of coffee whilst Pookie snoozes (again, it's raining in Sydney and I can't blame him for wanting to laze around in this weather) and go tackle my wardrobe like I mentioned in my last post.

Indecisions, indecisions

The only decision I managed to make all week may well have been selecting the crazy acid turquoise nail lacquer I'm wearing this easter weekend. It goes with nothing and everything.

I did start clearing out all my laundry backlog, and it's occurred to me - I NEED a dresser. OR I need more shoes. We all know I need more shoes. But I do need to implement some kind of intelligent storage system before I get swamped by my knitwear collection. That would be less than ideal. Also less than ideal is navigating to IKEA by myself. I'm not a fan of driving in directions I'm not familiar with... one of the few things I'm conservative about. But I guess I'll take one for the team, for the sake of my shoes and my clothes. They deserve to be happy.

The lazy slob inside me thought, 'great, lie on the grass and stay still!! I can do that!!' I'll be channelling (trying to anyway) the latest YSL campaign, in my white ASOS dress, nude wedges and more St Tropez tan (which by the way does not smell at all, score).

Yes, yes... i know, it's already monday night and i've updated my monday night music recommendation (see my latest here)

But still... don't you find sometimes whilst you're watching a Boston Legal marathon, feeling a bit peckish, slightly sore from pilates reformer class and just a wee bit bored of reading College of Law papers.. don't you find your thoughts drifting into the realm of, 'oooo... sunday at Pasta Zu was scrummy!'

Well, next time you're in Mosman... and find yourself thinking about luscious rustic moreish servings of pasta... pop in. My favourite is the smoked salmon spaghetti. YUM!

Every woman he ever met, queued up in front of him whilst he gets weighted down.

Asking your permission to go to the bathroom.

Whilst you discuss all these details you already knew about were going to take place.

Saturday mornings with Colbie

Despite my best efforts to get some sunshine, the universe is determined to make me stay indoors to study with rain, cold weather, and cloudy skies.

HAH.

I spent all morning searching for new music (and new dresses), and came across this one:



Whilst I cannot always admit to being a cheesy corny romantic, this one is just put in your pockets adorable. The video is a complete cringe-fest but cute in that 'we tried to be laid back, but actually we killed ourselves trying to make this' way but I totally adore the boho/hippie vibe to it.

Anywho, now that I have a new addition to my playlist, I shall actually get down to some study.

The land of the free (and easy)

Today is a public holiday - what is it this time, you ask? Since you asked, it's Australia Day.

Don't you have another public holiday coming up soon? Yes, that would be the Queen's Birthday.

I love this town. Hah.

Although, technically I should be putting my time to good use by madly finishing (ok, starting) off the following:

1 x presentation for Ethics tomorrow

1 x reflective journal 1500 words minimum for Ethics thursday

1 x discussion paper 2000 words for Corporate Insolvency next monday

1 x study session (ok, cramming) for Ethics exam next wednesday

1 x research paper 4000 words for Corporate Insolvency 9th Feb

Yes, sure. No worries, as we say in Australand.

Hah! THS The Kardashians is on so.... maybe after that.

And the sun is out now, and I did mention that tan look I like? (obviously I use sunscreen, duh)

I have always had a soft spot for anything Vince Vaughn, and I was overjoyed when Jen A dated him. Like, my two fave actors together? Joy. And then they drifted apart. Blast.

But anyways, this has been playing on cable and I just love this one comedian. And so delighted to see that on the day I have cupcakes to make for Leanne and Celina, and two presentations to draft for Monday, that instead I am getting numerous chances to practice my evil laugh watching clips like this.

There's nothing like an assignment deadline looming overhead to make one scroll through random galleries (thank you news.com.au) and get inspired to just make like Mariah (or Miranda) and fluff up that hairdo y'all...

It must be some unknown slimming secret. Will try, and report back. Over and out.

i don't know how to say anything anymore.

and now it's sunday afternoon. i spent all morning waiting for nothing to happen.

i shouldn't be disappointed because i was expecting this anyway, but i'm crying anyway.

and then later, i will have to say sorry when i feel bad for crying.

i am at the bottom of the list. i don't feel like i am anyone's priority.

i'm not even my own priority.

fashion weekend is coming!

the major selling point of this outing is that, theoretically at least, it will be one massive weekend of bargain hunting in the one giant expo centre. this comes after years of everyone feeling so envious of londoners for having london fashion weekend, but never doing one over here
